History and Geography

History and Geography at St Paul’s

There is history and geography in everything we do and so a priority as St Paul’s is to engage children through cross curricular approaches as an exciting way of developing an immersive experience which embeds transferable knowledge and skills. We make the curriculum broad and balanced so that children can use creative skills to aid their learning. Trips and visitors play a huge part in the teaching of geography and history. Some of the trips and visitors so far this year have included: Zoo lab, the planetarium, Longdown Dairy Farm and Portchester Castle, maximizing the local area around us. We have also had a Victorian dress up day in Year 5, where children experienced a day in the life of a Victorian child at school. We pride ourselves at St Paul’s in having memorable experiences that engage the children, providing them all with a love of learning.

This year we have introduced a core text to be at the center of the learning. This links in, where possible, to the learning for the half term, making purposeful links across the curriculum.
