Welcome to Early Years

Welcome to reception! We’re so excited to be welcoming you to St Paul’s Catholic Primary School. This half term will see the children settling into life at school, exploring their new classroom and school environment. Our topic this half term is ‘Family and Friends’ so please bring in a photo of your family to add to our class display. Keep an eye out for an invitation from your child to our end of topic tea party.

Robin & Hummingbird

Hello our names are Mrs Hennessy, Mrs Harris and Miss Ainsley are we are the reception teachers at St Paul’s Catholic Primary School.

Being in Reception is so much fun, every day we do phonics which helps us become great readers and writers. We have discovery time where we explore our classroom and help our learning independently.

An important part of reception is our outside classroom we use this every day and explore many different things such as sand and water.

Parents and carers are invited in to the classroom every morning from 8:40am to share a book with their child and then on Fridays to look through their children's learning journey.

We look forward to seeing you.

Reception Gallery - Why not take a look at the learning we have been completed so far this year.....

We have been designing and making boats. Looking at shapes all around us.

We celebrated Christmas by wearing our Christmas outfits.

Our class mascots had been hidden by a pirate somewhere in our classroom, we followed the clues to find where they were hidden.

Our parents came into school and we retold them the story 10 Little Pirates. Then we hunted for treasure around the school by following the clues.

Special dates:

PE is currently on a Tuesday morning please ensure that your child has the correct kit in school.

Each week we will send home the phonics homework.  This is for you to practice with your child.

We encourage you read with your child every night.
