Year 6 Evacuee Day

On Wednesday year 6 pupils went back in time to 1939 as part of their study of WW2. The day started with a train journey as evacuees. On arriving at the station they walked to the church where they were billeted to their new 'parents'. They spent the morning experiencing what school would have been like for evacuees including milk at playtime and using chalk and slate for their learning. In the afternoon they took part in three practical activities learning about rationing, dig for victory and wartime Christmas. The children had a fantastic day and really got into the spirit of it.  A huge thank-you to the many parents who sent in a letter to their child.  The children loved the surprise letters and reading them was very moving.
